Pictures of the new garden plot

Farm SpotHere’s a picture of the area that we’ll be gardening this summer! We drove out there yesterday in the pouring rain… we were hoping to do some more measuring, but it was too wet and would have been fairly unpleasant. With the dry summer last year, the rain is welcomed – our area in Minnesota is still in a drought.

The spot we’ll be gardening is roughly 200 feet x 150 feet. It’s located between the driveway and a grove of trees, and then between the barn and the road. The photo above is taken from the driveway, looking toward the grove. Here’s from the road looking at the barn:

We have some piles of wood to move, and then we have to call someone to get it tilled up. Unfortunately, we’ll probably have to till a couple of times just to help get rid of the grass. This area used to be cow grazing land, so it should be fairly fertile. It hasn’t been farmed in 15 years or so.
